The short answer. An anime AI chatbot is an app where you text an AI playing an anime-style character. The big ones are Character.AI, Talkie, PolyBuzz and Janitor AI. All have user-made male characters, and all treat memory as a budget you manage. Pocket Femboy, our app, is a small cast of original femboys who remember you unprompted. It isn't out yet.
The rest of this page is the comparison we wanted when we started looking: nine apps, one table, every fact dated, and a plain account of what we're building.
Who searches "anime AI chatbot", and what they're after
Nobody types anime AI chatbot because they want a chatbot. They want a character: someone who talks the way the shows talk, has a temper or a soft spot or a terrible habit, and keeps being that person from one evening to the next. Most of them are on a phone: 77% of the searches that find our own site come from one. And sooner or later almost all of them run into the same wall, which is that the character forgets.
The search results don't help much. On 12 October 2026 the first page for this term was mostly app-store listings and product pages, with a listicle or two in between. The top result was an anime image maker with a chat assistant attached. None of the pages we saw were written for someone who wants an anime boy, and none mentioned femboys at all.
The field, as of 12 October 2026
Every rival below was live and taking sign-ups when we checked. Prices are US dollars a month, billed monthly unless noted. "Our count" means we counted the front page ourselves, on one day. "Not stated" means the app's own site and store listing don't say, not that the answer is no.

| Pocket Femboy | Not launched; free text planned, voice on Plus | Automatic, per conversation, readable and correctable | Every character is a femboy | No explicit content on any tier; 18+ age gate | iPhone and Android, coming soon |
Two things the table doesn't show. Apps in this market vanish. Moemate's site no longer loads, Linky lost its US App Store listing in 2024, and Talkie came back on iPhone under a different name. Smaller anime-boyfriend apps exist, KUN being the one that ranks, but they're tiny and we couldn't verify enough about any of them for the table.
"These apps are built around girls" is only half true now
The old line is that anime chatbots are made for guys who want anime girls. For the anime-chat apps at the top of the search results, and for CrushOn's weekly chart, that still holds.
The big libraries tell a different story. PolyBuzz's front page was mostly male when we looked, SpicyChat has twice as many characters tagged Male as Female, and three of them have a Femboy tag. Can you find an anime boy to talk to? Yes, by the thousand.
So the problem, for anime boys and femboys alike, isn't supply. It's what you get when you find one:
- A prompt, not a person. A user-made character is a name, a description and a greeting. Some are written with care; many are a picture, three lines and a tag.
- Memory you run yourself. Every app above that describes its memory describes a budget: pins, a memory box, a context size that grows with the plan. You end up as the character's secretary. Our lorebook explainer covers the workaround people use.
- Nothing between chats. The character exists while the window is open. Nothing happened to them since Tuesday.
That last one is a design choice, not a failing: a library of millions can't give each character a life. For variety, the big apps are the better tool. We made the opposite trade.
What Pocket Femboy is
An app for getting to know a small cast of femboys over time. Not a library, and not an anime app either: the characters are our own, with their own art, and every one of them is an adult. The first we finished is Jax, 21, who works in a record shop and is not especially warm to strangers; Ren, Ty and Darius are next, and all four use he/him. What we're building them to do:
They have lives that keep moving. A job, friends, a routine, things that go right and wrong during their day. Those are tracked by the app, outside the conversation, so the AI writes what they say but doesn't get to rewrite who they are.
They remember, and you don't manage it. No pins, no memory box, no meter. What you tell them gets kept automatically, including the small things you'd never think to flag. Each conversation keeps its own memory, so a Story and a Texting thread with the same character are two separate histories. Ask what they know about you and you get it in plain language; fix what's wrong, and drop what you'd rather they forgot.
Three ways to talk to the same character. Open Chat: you set the scene and steer, the closest thing here to an anime chatbot as you know it. Story: a shared world with its own clock, where the character has a say in what happens next. Texting: plain texts, no narration, on the real clock. Texting is the one mode where they can message you first.
A voice for each character, planned as part of Pocket Femboy Plus rather than the free tier.
What it isn't
No anime characters. Not Astolfo, not anyone else's character, and no bots of franchise characters made by users either. Every character is ours. If talking to a specific character from a show is the point, a big library is where that happens, unofficially.
No celebrities and no real people. Every character is fictional, every reply is written by AI, and they'll say so if you sincerely ask.
Not unfiltered. No sexually explicit content, for anyone, on any tier, and no setting that changes it. The characters can be warm, flirty and a lot. The line isn't a toggle.
18+, as an age gate. Confirming you're an adult is recorded on your account on our servers, every conversation checks it, and there's no under-18 version. 18+ is about who we let in, not what's inside.
Not out yet. There's nothing to download today.
If you came here from our anime posts
Maybe you found us through our ranked list of femboy anime characters or femboy manga with adult leads. Those characters belong to other people and won't be in our app.
What we took from them is the kind of personality worth writing. Izo is forty-three and leads a division of the Whitebeard Pirates without anyone remarking on his kimono. Meguru in My Androgynous Boyfriend has a career, a following and a girlfriend who is still getting used to his eyeliner. Mei Kinosaki in Marriagetoxin is the most competent person in every room and treats his presentation as a skill. Astolfo wears the frills and has no opinion about it whatsoever. Grown-ups, every one, with a life already going before the story found them. That's the bar for our cast.
For femboy chat beyond anime, our femboy chat page covers the rest.
Questions people ask
Which anime AI chatbot has male characters?
Most of the big ones. On 12 October 2026 PolyBuzz, Janitor AI, SpicyChat, Talkie, Dippy and Sakura all had a male filter or tag, and PolyBuzz's front page was mostly male. CrushOn has the filter, but its weekly chart was almost all female.
Is there an anime AI boyfriend app?
Yes: a few small apps built only around them, and plenty of user-made boyfriend characters on the big libraries. For a male companion more than an anime one, our gay AI chat guide covers which apps do that well. Pocket Femboy isn't a boyfriend app; closeness depends on the mode and how you talk.
Can I talk to a specific anime character?
Usually, on the big libraries, as fan-made bots. They aren't made by whoever owns the character, and they can disappear. Pocket Femboy doesn't host them at all.
Do anime AI chatbots remember you?
Within limits. Every app in our table that explains its memory ties it to a chat and a size that grows with your plan. Pocket Femboy keeps memory automatically per conversation, and you can read and correct it.
Are anime AI chatbots safe?
Check three things: who makes the app, what it does with your messages, and whether it can vanish. Several have lost App Store listings or shut down, and when an app goes, your chats go with it. Content lines vary widely, so read the guidelines first.

The fine print
Every fact about another app was checked on 12 October 2026 from the app's own site, help pages, terms or US store listing: Character.AI (plans), its community guidelines and under-18 announcement; CrushOn pricing and terms; Talkie's FAQ and Talkie Lab on the App Store; Janitor AI's chat memory guide and App Store listing; SpicyChat's September 2026 pricing, context sizes and iOS notice; Chai's safety page and App Store listing; PolyBuzz membership, terms and App Store listing; Dippy's App Store listing and trending page; Sakura's plans and terms. The US App Store removals of Talkie and Linky in 2024 are from the South China Morning Post.
Front-page counts are ours, made logged out on one day. Prices change; SpicyChat's went up in September. If we've got something wrong, tell us at support@pocketfemboy.com and we'll correct it.
Every Pocket Femboy character is fictional and every reply is written by AI. The anime and manga characters named on this page belong to their creators and are not in the app.
